In the thread, Reddit user tristydotj shared photos from their seat in the airplane, where the woman’s phone was zoomed in on to show an alarming text: “We have Covid… shhh. That’s why we’re coming home a day early,” the text said. The concerned passenger captioned the photo, “Caught this woman sitting in front of me on a plane sending some very alarming texts.” RELATED: Science Teacher Arrested After Video Showed Her Giving COVID-19 Vaccine To Student In Her Home

The recent Reddit thread has now sparked debate about the woman’s text revealing she has Covid but still chose to be on an airplane.

“When we got to the hockey game last night you either had to have proof of a vaccine or a negative test. We had neither so the guy let me sneak in sharing [nana’s] but he made dad go next-[indecipherable] and get a test. They tested him twice and…,” the second image showed.

According to the new CDC guidelines released on December 27th, 2021, all people, whether symptomatic or asymptomatic, should isolate for five days and wear a mask around others. “The change is motivated by science demonstrating that the majority of SARS-CoV-2 transmission occurs early in the course of illness, generally in the 1-2 days prior to the onset of symptoms and the 2-3 days after,” the CDC guidelines say.

The Reddit thread has 78,000 upvotes and over 12,000 comments, with most people either trying to decipher the messages, or commenting on how careless this woman is being.

For others, this woman’s texts are scaring people, thinking about how many others are doing the same thing.

It’s unknown how the woman got onto the plane as almost all airlines, except for American Airlines, require either a vaccine or proof of a negative Covid test 1-3 days before you fly. — E. (@itsegypttt) January 6, 2022 The CDC also recommends to not travel if “you have been exposed to COVID-19, you are sick, or if you test positive for COVID-19,” and if you aren’t fully vaccinated to “get tested both before and after your trip.” The fact that this woman hid her Covid status potentially puts dozens of flight passengers at risk. It’s up to all of us, no matter our beliefs, to trust science and be more conscientious about those around us!
